BioMediTech – Institute of Biosciences and Medical Technology – was established in 2011 by the University of Tampere (UTA) and the Tampere University of Technology (TUT) to gather the multidisciplinary research in life sciences and medical technology under the same organization. Today as part of the Faculty of Medicine and Health Technologies in Tampere University we aim to create new knowledge and clinical/commercial solutions by combining the engineering and biology efficiently with the modern medicine.
Today we have over 300 scientists who conduct research and education in the fields of cell and molecular biology, genetics, biomaterials, biosensors, computational systems, biotechnology, biomedical engineering, and regenerative medicine. Our research groups and collaborators have access to major life science research infrastructure in Tampere University.
BioMediTech is also the local host organization of SPARK Finland.
